WNAM REPORT: Deputy Minister of Transmigration, Viva Yoga Mauladi, expressed hope that the free health check program will prioritize transmigration areas since they are important national food barns.

“We hope this free health check program will also become a priority in transmigration areas. The areas are an important part of maintaining food security as rice production centers,” he added in Jakarta on Monday.

He expressed the hope that prioritizing the program in transmigration locations would improve transmigrants’ quality of life, thereby allowing them to contribute to building the nation through food self-sufficiency efforts.

“In order for 281 million Indonesians to live healthy, all health services and checks must be fulfilled in all parts of the country,” Mauladi stressed.

The free health check program was launched on Monday at 17 health centers in Jabodetabek (Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi) and East Java.

According to Mauladi, the government will continue to monitor preparations for the implementation of the program at various other health facilities.

“We will monitor and prepare this free health check program so that all people, including toddlers, teenagers, and the elderly, have access to health services,” he added.

He further informed that the government will constantly evaluate the program to improve health services nationwide.

The Ministry of Health has assured that 10,200 health centers across Indonesia are ready to implement the Free Health Check-up Program from February 2025.

This readiness covers human resources (HR), health center infrastructure, chemical compounds for blood testing (reagents), and medical equipment.

As a special effort targeting school-age children and teenagers, the government will also roll out the free check-ups in schools starting in July.

According to the ministry, each age group will have its unique examination package in the free health check program. Children under six will have access to eight types of examinations, including for thalassemia and blood sugar.

Meanwhile, those aged 18 years and above, or adults, can opt for 19 types of examinations, including health checks for prospective brides and grooms.

Through the program, the elderly can avail geriatric examinations, which will not be provided to other age groups.
