Deputy Economic Counselor, US Embassy visits ICCI: Explores Avenues for Boosting Bilateral Economic Ties

ISLAMABAD  (WNAM REPORT): Deputy Economic Counselor of the US Embassy, Robert Newsome, held a productive meeting with Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) here at the Chamber House to explore new avenues for boosting economic relations between Pakistan and the United States. During the meeting, both sides engaged in meaningful discussions on: Enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation, strengthening business-to-business linkages to promote direct engagement between companies from both nations, Identifying and resolving trade barriers to encourage smoother trade flows.
Nasir Mansoor Qureshi welcomed the visit and appreciated the US Embassy’s efforts to foster closer economic ties with Pakistan. He highlighted the immense potential for increasing trade and investment between the two countries, particularly in sectors such as pharmaceutical, technology, agriculture, renewable energy, and textiles.
“We believe Pakistan and the United States have complementary strengths that can lead to mutually beneficial partnerships. By facilitating greater interactions through the exchange of business delegations between our business communities, we can unlock significant economic opportunities,” said Mr. Qureshi.
He also emphasized the importance of regular dialogues between the private sectors of both countries to promote joint ventures, technology transfers, and skill development initiatives.
Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry, Executive Members Amir Rahim Qureshi, Irfan Chadurhy, ICCI President’s special advisor Naeem Siddiqui, former Executive Member Chaudhry Mohammad Ali and Secretary General Ghulam Murtaza also participated in the meeting, paving the way for greater economic cooperation, expand mutual investment and people to people relations between the two countries.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing their commitment to fostering a stronger Pakistan-US economic partnership, built on trust, shared goals, and sustained engagement.
