ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, MNA / Convener of the Pakistan–Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), held a substantive meeting with H.E. Dr. İrfan Neziroğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan. The engagement reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherly spirit of “One People, Two States” that continues to define the historic relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The Convener briefed the Ambassador on the devastating impact of the recent floods in Pakistan, sharing details of the tragic loss of lives, large-scale displacement, destruction of property, extensive damage to agricultural land, loss of livestock & feed and the resulting food shortages.
The discussions also emphasized expanding cooperation in key areas, including the revival of tourism policy, educational exchanges and enhanced parliamentary linkages. Both sides underlined the importance of close parliamentary cooperation, stronger engagement with chambers of commerce, business forums and the initiation of joint programmes for youth and women entrepreneurs to further deepen bilateral ties.
Convener Shaista Pervaiz proposed the establishment of a joint Pakistan–Türkiye Cultural Cooperation Forum to serve as a structured platform for collaboration. The Forum would focus on initiatives such as thematic exhibitions titled “Mirroring Pakistan and Türkiye”, women’s empowerment programmes, youth skill development to foster innovation and economic participation and cultural activities highlighting the rich shared heritage of both nations.
During the discussion, special emphasis was placed on supporting flood rehabilitation efforts, introducing vocational training programmes for rural women and promoting inclusive initiatives for children with special needs.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further consolidating the cordial and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.
