Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING): Uzbekistan has launched an initiative to train 50 women entrepreneurs as “business champions.”
In his speech dedicated to International Women’s Day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced a set of new initiatives aimed at supporting women’s entrepreneurship.
One of the key steps is the implementation of a four-stage system for the development of women’s entrepreneurship. This program is designed to strengthen large businesses led by women.
At the first stage, 20,000 women aspiring to start their own businesses will receive training in essential business skills. This task will be overseen by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Vakhabov, and his deputy, Nodira Shotursunova.
The next step involves supporting 100,000 self-employed women who wish to establish their own businesses. The People’s Bank will be responsible for providing financial and organizational resources for this initiative. Following this, the company “Hamroh” will work on transforming small businesses, ensuring that at least two enterprises in each district of the country gain exemplary status and transition into the category of medium-sized enterprises.
The final stage of the program focuses on the emergence of 50 large enterprises, each with a turnover exceeding 100 billion soums, led by women. These entrepreneurs will receive the special status of “business champions” and serve as role models for successful business management on a national scale.
In 2024, authorities aim to create employment opportunities for two million women through professional training and entrepreneurial support. Regional governors have been tasked with ensuring full employment for women in at least two districts per region. The Central Bank will be responsible for preparing and assisting 1.3 million women in securing jobs and starting their own businesses.
Additionally, the Federation of Trade Unions will provide support to 636,000 women included in the “Women’s Notebooks” program, while the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs will assist another 100,000 women interested in entrepreneurship. The coordination of efforts at the regional, district, and community levels will be managed by the Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs, Zulaykho Makhamova, and the Head of the Federation of Trade Unions, Kudratilla Rafikov. Oversight of the implementation of these initiatives has been entrusted to the Chairperson of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva.
