ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): The OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Pakistan, officially launched the first issue of the Journal of Science Communication and Diplomacy at a prestigious event held at the COMSTECH Headquarters, Islamabad.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH, Ambassador Tahir Hussain Andrabi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with ambassadors, high commissioners, policymakers, and eminent scientists from OIC member states.
In his keynote address, Coordinator General COMSTECH Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary emphasized that the journal will serve as a bridge between science, diplomacy, and communication, facilitating policy-making, research collaboration, and knowledge exchange at the global level. He appreciated the support of the Science Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in strengthening the intersection of science and diplomacy.
Addressing the gathering, The Chief Guest, Ambassador Tahir Hussain Andrabi, Additional Foreign Secretary (Arms Control & Disarmament Division), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscored the importance of science diplomacy in tackling global challenges, such as climate change, pandemics, and technological advancements.
He stressed that platforms like this journal will play a pivotal role in shaping international policies based on scientific research and evidence-based diplomacy.
The journal of Science Communication and Diplomacy was inteoduced by the Editor-in chief Prof Dr Syed Javaid Khurshid, Consultant Science Communication, CoMSTECH
The newly launched journal will publish research articles, case studies, and analysis of emerging trends, fostering a deeper connection between science and international relations.
Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary extended an invitation to researchers, experts, and journalists to contribute their scholarly work to this platform, enabling positive global transformation through science and diplomacy.
