WNAM REPORT: On the occasion of Earth Hour 2025, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the collective responsibility to protect the Earth, stating that Earth Hour serves as a reminder for adopting eco-friendly practices to secure a better future.
Chairman Senate highlighted Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change impacts, such as melting glaciers and water scarcity, urging a collective strategy to address these challenges. He called for reduced energy consumption, increased use of renewable energy, and the implementation of sustainable policies, with Earth Hour playing a key role in raising awareness.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani stressed the importance of small daily changes, like conserving water and electricity, planting trees, and reducing carbon emissions, and encouraged civil society, the private sector, and citizens to actively contribute in environment conservation.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also acknowledged the Upper House’s efforts in legislating for environmental protection and sustainable development, affirming its commitment to global environmental improvement. He warned against the dangers of climate change, including global warming, deforestation, and pollution, urging citizens to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles.
Chairman Senate expressed his appreciation for WWF’s longstanding efforts in environmental protection and wildlife conservation, praising their impact both globally and within Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international environmental goals and sustainable development.
