Had the Soviet leadership not fallen into the hands of weaklings and politically short sighted persons like Podgorney Brezenev and Gorbochev, Soviet union would never have dismembered due to American machination. Moscow didn’t have leaders of Lenin and Stalin stature after their demise for a fairly long time thus making the task of the CIA to break the Soviet empire much easier.
The other blunder committed by the Kremlin after Stalin’s departure from power was that it didn’t cut its coat according to its cloth. Its undue military intervention in many countries cost it dearly which affected its economy which in turn adversely affected the living standard of the Soviet people thus making Soviet leadership unpopular among the masses.
Some insiders also bill Gorbochev as a CIA agent. Whatever the case, the fact of the matter is that the leaders named above were no patch on Lenin and Stalin. But for their senseless and weak foreign policy Soviet union would never have collapsed.

Even the worst critics of old administrative system of FATA now feel that it had suited the genius of the tribesmen it had evolved after a long period of gestation. Under the collective tribal territorial responsibility which was its linchpin its law and order was better than the one prevalent in revenue districts. The tribesmen considered their jirga system to be handy as it didn’t involve the prohibitive fee of lawyers in vogue in the courts of revenue districts, their cases were decided quickly unlike the revenue districts where the trial courts took years to adjudicate and those under trial for any offence or on the look out to seek justice in any case had to run from pillar to post and wait for years together to see them reaching fruition.
It would be difficult to put the clock back as sufficient water had crossed under the Attock bridge since the merger of FATA with the KPK but it can be revisited to straighten its kinks and knots.
