Dispensation of justice is an herculean task. A very strict code of conduct exists for the judges of all cadres. One has read in books as well as heard from senior jurists that a judge shouldn’t indulge in unwarranted verbal exchange of words in the court room with the lawyers during the course of proceedings of any case as from a slight slip of his tongue or from chain of his arguments the listeners in the court room can easily guesstimate which side is he on, prosecution or defense.
It is said a good judge will always speak through his written judgement. The unwritten and written code of ethics for judges forbid them from attending private and official lunches and dinners so that they should remain aloof from the executive and monied class.
The question which strikes a very common man is this, Is the superior judiciary hundred percent sure that the aforementioned code of ethics is being observed hundred percent in letter and spirit by the lower echelon of judiciary operating at the district level.
