ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Director Municipal Administration (DMA), Dr. Anam Fatima, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and held a fruitful and interactive session with President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry, and office bearers representing various business hubs of the capital.
During the meeting, Dr. Anam Fatima assured the business community of her fullest cooperation in resolving key issues faced by the industrial and trade sectors, with a special focus on tackling encroachments, parking challenges, and the complications of multiple trade licensing. She also addressed the long-standing demand of H-13 sector residents for a dedicated graveyard by promising to allow burials in H-11 graveyard.
Emphasizing the importance of inclusive decision-making, Dr. Fatima assured that no unilateral actions would be taken in any business centers without first consulting the relevant trade bodies and ICCI. She termed the business community as the “economic engine” of the country, deserving of utmost respect, facilitation, and stakeholder-driven solutions.
Welcoming the DMA Director, ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi highlighted major challenges confronting Islamabad’s business community, including multiple licensing requirements, encroachments, limited parking, billboard taxation, and the lack of flower outlets. He also reiterated the residents’ graveyard demand, proposing the formation of a joint committee comprising ICCI members and DMA officials to address issues amicably.
President Qureshi reaffirmed ICCI’s commitment to serving as a bridge between the business community and the government to foster a more conducive business environment and promote ease of doing business in the capital city.
The session saw valuable input from ICCI Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry, President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajraan Ajmal Baloch, former ICCI Presidents Mian Shaukat Masood, Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi, and several executive members including Haji Naeem, Raheel Anwar Butt, Irfan Chaudhry, Ishaq Sial, Aftab Gujjar, Naeem Akhtar Awan, and Zulqurnain Abbasi. Convener ICT Administration Committee Malik Mohsin Khalid, TWAs leaders Akhtar Abbasi, Shahzad Shabbir, Raja Hassan Akhtar, Ashraf Farzand, Ahmed Khan, Yassar Abbasi, Imtiaz Abbasi, Shahid Abbasi, Raja Zulfiqar, Waheed Cheema, Naeem Iqbal, Ikhlaq Abbasi, Azhar Amin, Chaudhry Ashraf, Rana Akram, Industrial Area Association leader Mehmood Warich, and others also shared insights regarding their sector-specific concerns.
Deputy Director DMA Asif Ali Khan, Assistant Director Rizwan Sarwar and Advisor to ICCI President Naeem Siddiqui were also present. The session was efficiently moderated by former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to uplift Islamabad’s economic environment through practical and policy-driven measures.
