WNAM REPORT: Over 10,000 people gathered in Bien Hoa city on April 11 for a full-scale rehearsal ahead of the upcoming celebrations marking 50 years since the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30).
Participants are deployed from the armed forces, including military units, militia and self-defence forces, and public security officers and soldiers. They were divided into 62 formations, including 47 marching units and 15 stationary contingents.
During the event, the Vietnam People’s Air Force performed a fly-past featuring 10 helicopters, seven SU-30MK2 fighter jets (nicknamed “King Cobra”), and a formation of Yak-130 multi-role training aircraft.
The rehearsal programme included ceremonial parts led by the military and a full parade and march-past.
The marching formations and aerial performances at the rehearsal followed the same script that will be used at the official ceremony on April 30, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
Earlier, in early April, more than 3,300 officers and soldiers from military and public security forces had been mobilised from the northern and central regions to Bien Hoa to prepare for the parade.
