WNAM REPORT: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov successfully completed an official visit to Japan, during which he was awarded the academic title of “Honorary Doctor” of the prestigious University of Tsukuba. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to the head of state, noting that the visit marked the beginning of a new stage in Turkmen-Japanese relations.
During the visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Emperor of Japan, which was evidence of His Majesty’s personal attention to the development of mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan. Negotiations were also held with the Prime Minister of Japan, during which the progressive dynamics of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in key areas – political and diplomatic, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian – were confirmed.
A special event was the participation of the President of Turkmenistan in the celebrations in honor of the National Day of the country at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. Turkmenistan became the first of almost 160 countries participating in the exhibition to celebrate its National Day, which is a sign of special respect for the country. The pavilion of Turkmenistan, distinguished by its unique architectural features, modernity and national color, makes a great impression on visitors.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba on joint scientific research in the field of hydrogen energy, which creates conditions for the development of student and teacher exchanges and expansion of the scope of joint scientific research.
