WNAM MONITORING: Azerbaijan conducted trade transactions with other countries worth $16.917 billion in the first four months of 2025, 24.1% more year-on-year.
In 4 months, exports accounted for almost $8.785 billion of foreign trade turnover, and imports accounted for nearly $8.133 billion. During the mentioned period, exports grew by 7.5%, while imports rose by 48.8%.
Consequently, there was a surplus of just over $651 million in Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover for January-April of this year, representing a 4.15-fold drop year-on-year.
In the specified period, the number of countries participating in foreign trade stood at 157, one fewer than the previous year.
Among participants, 23,926 were individuals, while 8,037 were legal entities (companies). Of these legal entities, 7,900 belonged to the private sector, and 137 were from the public sector.
The number of individuals engaged in foreign trade rose by 1,624 (7.3%) year-on-year, while legal entities increased by 329 (4.3%).
Overall, foreign trade participation grew by 1,953 individuals (6.5%). Public sector legal entity participation declined by 27 (16.5%), whereas private sector participation increased by 356 (4.7%).
