May 2025 War Redefined Regional and Global Politics

WNAM REPORT: “Our stance with India has always been that we desire peace, not conflict in the region. However whenever the enemy imposed war upon us, the Pakistan Armed Forces have always given a crushing response that made the enemy regret its ambitions. In the four-day war of May 2025, our brave forces once again taught the enemy a lesson that not only changed the balance of power in South Asia but also reshaped global politics.”
These views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood while addressing an academic seminar titled “ May 2025 Revisited: Diplomacy, Deterrence and the Fight for Kashmir” held at the university yesterday.
Dr. Nasir Mahmood further stated that “you can suppress someone with force, but you cannot silence their voice forever and the same is true for Kashmir. No matter how much power India uses, the anguished voice of the Kashmiri people cannot be silenced.”
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the Government of Pakistan has never retreated from its stance on Kashmir and Palestine. Speaking on the challenge of fake news, he advised the youth to protect themselves from its influence, saying that in today’s world — where an “information war” is underway — the spread of misinformation across politics, religion and society is causing serious social disruption. To counter this, media literacy is essential.
He urged young people to act responsibly and thoughtfully to prevent false and misleading information from spreading chaos in society. The Vice Chancellor stressed that the youth are the future of Pakistan and to make the country’s name shine globally, collective thinking and collaboration are needed to pave the way for progress and positive change.
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Sahir thanked the Vice Chancellor for establishing two new departments — Psychology and Political Science & International Relations. He noted that enrollment in the BS International Relations program had risen from 250 students in the first semester to 600 and that BS programs in Psychology and Political Science would also commence in the next semester.
The seminar was organized by the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Addressing the event, faculty members Dr. Mahmood Hussain and Dr. Waqar Elahi stated that the May 2025 war proved to the world that Pakistan is the only country in the Muslim world fully equipped with modern technology and stands as an invincible nation.
