Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING ): As part of the national program to promote domestic tourism, the village of Imom Ota, located in the Khojaabad district of Andijan region, has officially been granted the status of a “Tourist Village.” A corresponding certificate was ceremoniously presented to representatives of the local community.
The award ceremony took place in the village itself and was attended by officials from the Committee for Tourism Development, regional and district authorities, members of the public, and media representatives. The new designation recognizes the significant tourism potential of Imom Ota, where consistent efforts are underway to build a comfortable and high-quality infrastructure for welcoming both domestic and international visitors.
As part of the event, a “Domestic Tourism Fair” was also held, where guests explored the crafts of local artisans, attended presentations of promising tourism-related projects, and participated in B2B and B2C discussions with businesses, government agencies, and potential consumers of tourism services.
Special attention was given to an Open Dialogue session that brought together tour operators, travel agents, accommodation providers — including hotels, hostels, and guesthouses — and other stakeholders in the tourism industry. Discussions focused on enhancing the region’s tourist appeal, improving service quality, and expanding intersectoral cooperation in tourism and the broader economy.
Granting Imom Ota the status of a “Tourist Village” marks an important step toward sustainable regional development and strengthens its position on Uzbekistan’s tourism map.
