WNAM REPORT: Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, has asked regional governments to utilize government assets for housing Red and White Village Cooperatives (KMP).
“There are many government assets, both regional and central, that are no longer utilized, so they can be a place to develop KMP,” he said at the launch and dialogue on the formation of Red and White cooperatives in village/sub-districts in North Sulawesi on Saturday.
He informed that any ministry building that is no longer in use, or even abandoned, can be used for a KMP. “Soon, the regional government will conduct an inventory of all existing ministry assets and immediately submit reports and proposals to the central government,” he said.
According to Juliantono, the formation of KMPs would not immediately involve constructing buildings at great expense; rather, government assets will be utilized for the cooperatives first.
This is because, he explained, Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution emphasizes that the Indonesian economy is structured on a joint effort, based on the principle of family.
For this reason, President Prabowo Subianto is trying to drive the people’s economy, including through cooperatives.
After a limited meeting on March 3, 2025, at the State Palace, the President said that he will launch 80 thousand village/sub-district cooperatives on Cooperative Day.
The launch in North Sulawesi was attended by Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, the Deputy Minister of Villages, the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, and representatives from other related ministries.
North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus, regional heads, elders, and sub-district heads from the province also joined the event.
