KPK’s artists who ruled the roost in film industry

There is no gainsaying the fact that from 1913 when film industry was formally established in the sub continent upto 2013 that is for full century it were the film artists belonging to KPK who ruled the roost. Many people don’t know that the famous Bollywood hero Manoj Kumar who joined the great majority recently was born and bred in Abbotabad. Vinod Khanna another good looking film hero of Bollywood was nephew of Mehr Chand Khanna, a minister in the Congress government of KPK before partition. He was born in Peshawar cantonment People know that Prithviraj ,Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar were born in Peshawar city but they don’t know that another Bollywood film star Premnath was also born in Peshawar city. Madhubala belonged to Swabi The famous Bollywood villain actor Jaint,whose real name was Zikria Khan was born in Peshawar city. The famous songwriter Saghir Sarhadi who penned many hit songs for Indian movies was born in Batal Mansehra. The first film carrying message of socialism in the sub continent was produced by Zia Sarhadi in Bollywood in 1950s who was born in Peshawar city. It was a very bold experiment to propagate socialistic ideas those days in the sub continent. The name of Qateel Shifai can also be included in  notable film song writers of the sub continent. He was born in Haripur and last but not least Gul Hameed, the debonair hero of era of silent movies cannot be forgotten who worked in many hit movies in 1920s. He was born in village Pir piai Nowshera.
