WNAM REPORT: The Indonesian Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and Malaysia’s National Audit Department (NAD) have strengthened bilateral ties through a knowledge-sharing visit focused on improving auditing practices and exploring future cooperation.

The two institutions fostered closer ties during a visit by the NAD delegation, led by Auditor General Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, to BPK facilities in Jakarta on June 12.

“This occasion further solidified the harmonious relations maintained by the two institutions since 2007,” Head of BPK’s Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau Teguh Widodo noted in an official statement cited here on Wednesday.

During a technical meeting, both audit bodies discussed two key issues: auditing compliance with Islamic principles and utilizing information systems to monitor audit follow-ups.

On the first topic, the BPK shared its experience in auditing activities of sharia banking institutions, while NAD outlined its approaches to auditing Islamic philanthropic assets, such as zakat, waqf, and other religious-based funds.

For audit follow-ups, the BPK presented its audit resource planning, the Follow-up Monitoring Information System (SIPTL), and its big data analytics (BIDICS) laboratory.

The NAD delegation also introduced a similar system and later toured the BIDICS facility and the BPK Education and Training Center.

Head of the training facility, Raden Yudi Ramdan Budiman, told NAD representatives that the BPK applies the Corporate University concept as a strategic approach to unify and enhance employee development across work units.

Meanwhile, NAD highlighted prospects for collaboration in human resource development between the Malaysian National Audit Academy and BPK’s Training and Education Center, potentially paving the way for future joint training programs and exchanges.
