WNAM REPORT: The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Egypt, Mansurbek Kilichev, held talks with the Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), Dr Ali Ghamrawy, during which the parties discussed prospects and practical areas of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Egyptian side expressed its willingness to share experiences with Uzbekistan, including conducting gap analysis, providing regulatory documents, and organizing training for specialists in GxP standards and pharmacovigilance. Joint projects on the production of generics, insulins, cancer drugs, and active pharmaceutical ingredients were also discussed.
As part of the information exchange, EDA agreed to gradually transfer a list of about 60,000 product names, including 12,000 medicines, from its electronic database. This step will expand mutual access to the pharmaceutical markets of the two countries.
The parties also considered the possibilities of establishing cooperation in investments, academic exchange, and scientific research, including the establishment of direct contacts between Egyptian universities and the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation and signing of a cooperation agreement this year, which, according to the participants in the negotiations, will become a solid foundation for strengthening friendly and economic ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt.
