TEHRAN ( WNAM MONITORING): Iran’s Army chief says that the military has adopted new strategies to deal with any potential threats, citing key lessons learned from the Israeli-imposed war in June.
“The 12-day war taught us lessons equal to 12 years,” Major General Amir Hatami said during a meeting with members of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in Tehran on Monday to discuss political, security and military developments in the region. “Based on those lessons, we have adopted new approaches for confronting any kind of threat.”
Hatami said global power dynamics are increasingly dominated by the use of force rather than diplomacy. “We are facing a world today in which some are trying to seize global dominance under the slogan of ‘peace through strength,’ which in reality means ruling the world by force,” he said, adding that diplomacy has become “much weaker than before.”
He pointed to Israeli aggression against Gaza, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Qatar as examples of the “logic of coercion.” The only way to overcome this logic, he said, echoing Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, “is to become strong and powerful.”
Ebrahim Azizi, head of the parliamentary commission, also said the legislature supports efforts to enhance Iran’s deterrence capabilities. “All pillars of the Islamic system are obliged to make power generation their primary goal,” Azizi said, adding that Parliament will continue to support this objective through legislation and budgeting.
