COMSATS University Convocation: Over 2300 Graduates Awarded Degrees, Medals

Islamabad ( WNAM MONITORING):  Executive Director COMSATS, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nafees Zakaria, chaired the 47th & 48th ceremonies of COMSATS University Islamabad as Chief Guest at the Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad. In the 47th Convocation ceremony, 1,160 graduates, including 29 PhD scholars, were awarded degrees as well as 26 university medals for the session Fall 2024, while in the 48th Convocation ceremony 1,184 graduates were awarded degrees including 48 PhDs as well as 54 university medals for graduates of Spring 2025 session.
Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Rector COMSATS University Islamabad while congratulating the students, said that Pakistani youth needs to prepare for the demands of Industry 5.0 and students must adapt in order to thrive in the rapidly evolving skills market. He said that CUI in the coming years will patronize students to become entrepreneurs and job creators. Prof. Qamar said that AI is rapidly transforming our lives and several professions will loose relevance unless they modernize.
Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nafees Zakaria, while speaking on the occasion, said that our resilience as a nation has been tested and it is abundantly clear that excelling in science and technology is the way forward for achieving socio-economic prosperity as well as preserving our national sovereignty. He said that the COMSATS’ mission is about strengthening science and technology in countries of the south (Asia) like Pakistan so that they may combat their
development challenges. Moreover, he called on the students to startup as entrepreneur in order to revive the society with their innovative ideas. Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Incharge Campus informed that during the Fall 2025 semester
scholarships amounting to approximately PKR 80 million, were disbursed to students of the campus. He informed that the campus hosts a student body of over 12,500, including 400 PhD scholars. Publications in the current year alone have reached 1,759 in the W category so far, showcasing the university’s thriving research culture.
