ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has successfully dismantled a highly organized group involved in drug smuggling through drones. Acting on credible intelligence, ANF teams intercepted a vehicle near Bhedian Kalan Road, Kasur, and arrested two individuals. During a thorough search, 9 kilograms of heroin, a quadcopter drone, and related equipment were recovered. The narcotics had been expertly concealed in secret compartments of the vehicle and within the suspects’ personal belongings.
Following the initial two arrests, the ANF launched a back-tracking operation, which led to the identification of an illegal drone assembly and manufacturing unit named “Robotics” located in Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. During the raid, multiple advanced drone systems were recovered, including hexacopters, quadcopters, fixed-wing hybrid VTOLs, and drone remotes.
During the operation, a relative of the company owner who was serving as the Head of Finance was also arrested on the spot. The individuals were operating the unit without any legal authorization or license. Investigations further revealed that these drones were being assembled and repaired for a drug trafficking organization (DTO) to facilitate cross-border narcotics smuggling.
The increasing use of technology in drug trafficking is an alarming trend, with smugglers employing drones to evade border surveillance and distribute destructive narcotics such as heroin, particularly targeting the youth.
Through modern counter-narcotics measures, ANF is ensuring that such toxic substances do not reach their destinations and that Pakistan’s younger generation is protected from destruction. The ANF continues its determined efforts against the misuse of technology and remains steadfast in its commitment to a drug-free and safe Pakistan.
