ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): In a landmark initiative to empower overseas Pakistanis and strengthen trade and investment linkages, the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has announced to establish a dedicated Help Desk for Overseas Pakistanis within its premises. The Help Desk will serve as a one-window facilitation center to address the issues faced by the Pakistani diaspora and promote their participation in business activities both locally and internationally.
The announcement was made by ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood during a meeting with Engineer Muhammad Javed, Coordinator of the Pakistan Business Professional Council (PBPC), Abu Dhabi, UAE, at the Chamber House.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to collaborate for the facilitation and welfare of overseas Pakistanis, particularly for the protection of their properties in Pakistan through legal support. The ICCI and PBPC also decided to work jointly to advocate for systemic reforms to ensure smoother engagement of overseas communities with Pakistan’s business ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Tahir Mehmood lauded Engineer Muhammad Javed for his long-standing contributions toward promoting Pakistan-UAE trade relations and his unwavering efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation. He appreciated his commitment to facilitating ICCI in organizing networking and B2B meetings in the UAE to expand business opportunities.
The ICCI President emphasized that overseas Pakistanis are the true economic ambassadors of the nation who contribute billions of dollars annually through remittances. He further shared that ICCI plans to organize an International Industrial Exhibition in the near future to showcase Pakistani products and provide an opportunity for overseas entrepreneurs to display their goods and services. The initiative, he said, would create mutually beneficial linkages between local and international business communities, thereby promoting exports, joint ventures, and foreign investment partnerships.
On his part, Engineer Muhammad Javed appreciated ICCI’s visionary initiative for growth of business and assured PBPC’s fullest cooperation in ensuring strong participation of UAE-based entrepreneurs in the upcoming exhibition. He commended ICCI’s commitment to bridging Pakistan’s domestic industry with overseas investors, saying it would pave the way for sustainable economic growth.
He also urged the authorities in Pakistan to consider issuing Diplomatic Passports to Presidents of Chambers of Commerce and Bar Councils because in this way they will be able to get visa-on-arrival, thereby enable to extend prompt legal and business support to the Pakistani diaspora abroad.
It is pertinent to mention that Engineer Muhammad Javed, who has been residing in the UAE for over four decades, is also associated with the World Asian Workers Organization (WAWO) , a platform recognized for its remarkable social services and community welfare initiatives.
