(WNAM Monitoring): President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on a state visit to the People’s Republic of China, visited Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The national anthems of Uzbekistan and China were played, after which the President of Uzbekistan laid a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes, paying tribute to the fighters who gave their lives for national independence and freedom of the Chinese people in the 19th-20th centuries.
Tiananmen Square has traditionally been considered the symbolic heart of the Chinese nation.
On October 1, 1949, the founding of the People’s Republic of China was proclaimed here. The monument to national heroes was built in the middle of the 20th century.
