Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING ): A ceremony for the presentation of the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize took place at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, honoring the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
The award was presented by Valery Gergiev, chairman of the international prize jury, artistic director and general director of the Mariinsky Theatre, and general director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, in the presence of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
The three leaders were recognized for their significant personal contributions to strengthening peace and security in Central Asia. The jury noted that on 31 March 2025, in Khujand, the heads of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan signed the Border Junction Treaty and the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship, making a substantial contribution to ensuring collective and equitable security, as well as fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among the peoples of the region.
The prize symbolizes a commitment to the ideals of humanism and acknowledges the joint efforts of the three countries in shaping Central Asia as a space of peace, prosperity, and constructive development.
The jury emphasized that opening a new chapter in the relations among these fraternal states was made possible by political will and the peoples’ aspiration toward trust and good-neighborliness.
