Officers of 45th Mid-Career Management Course Visit BISP

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Officers of the 45th Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Peshawar, comprising 35 officers from various departments, visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Headquarters for field research to gain first-hand insight into BISP’s mandate and key initiatives.
Secretary BISP, Mr. Amer Ali Ahmad, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on BISP’s major reforms and achievements. He highlighted the launch of Social Protection Wallets for 10 million deserving women, along with free SIMs, terming it one of the largest social protection transformations in Pakistan’s history aimed at ensuring secure, transparent, and convenient payments. He informed that approximately 5.6 million free SIMs have already been distributed nationwide for activation of social protection wallets under the PM’s cashless/ digitial initiative.
The Secretary shared that BISP supports the poorest households living below the poverty line, with a special focus on women as the primary beneficiaries, promoting financial inclusion, mobility, and economic empowerment. He also highlighted the positive impact of Benazir Nashonuma and Taleemi Wazaif programmes, and emphasized NSER, BISP’s key strength, covering 38.7 million households.
The delegation was further briefed on ongoing and new reforms, including the new payment model, MRVs, DFLT, IGMS, HSPS, and the way forward, including the Benazir Hunarmand Programme.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed. The visiting officers appreciated BISP’s transformative role in social protection, financial inclusion, and women empowerment, and thanked the Secretary and BISP team for the comprehensive briefing.
