Chairperson BISP, German Ambassador inaugurate 7 new Mobile Registration Vans

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT):Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, and H.E. Ina Lepel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan, today inaugurated seven new Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) at BISP Headquarters, Islamabad.
*The seven MRVs have been provided by the Government of Germany through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with implementation support from GIZ in partnership with BISP. With the addition of these vehicles, BISP’s fleet of Mobile Registration Vans has increased from 25 to 32, further strengthening outreach to deserving families living in remote and underserved areas of Pakistan.*
*During the last two years, more than 22 million households have updated their information through BISP’s 647 Dynamic Registry Centres and 25 Mobile Registration Vans. BISP’s National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) now comprises data of 38.7 million households, while 215 federal and provincial programmes have benefited from BISP’s data-sharing mechanism.*
Welcoming the Ambassador and representatives of the German Government, GIZ, and KfW, Senator Rubina Khalid thanked Germany for its continued support in the field of social protection and development. She termed the Mobile Registration Vans a valuable contribution to BISP’s efforts to ensure that no eligible household is left behind due to geographical barriers.
Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized the importance of integrating social protection programmes for better results, enhancing beneficiary awareness through social media platforms, and promoting digital financial literacy. She also highlighted the need for additional Mobile Registration Vans in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to improve access to registration services in geographically challenging areas.
Earlier, Senator Rubina Khalid and Ambassador Ina Lepel toured a Mobile Registration Van and reviewed the services being provided to beneficiaries. The Chairperson briefed the Ambassador on BISP’s collaboration with NADRA for CNIC registration, Form-B issuance, and facial recognition facilities for beneficiaries facing biometric verification issues. She also informed the Ambassador about BISP’s newly launched Digital Wallet payment mechanism aimed at ensuring transparent, convenient, and dignified delivery of financial assistance to women beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Ina Lepel appreciated BISP’s efforts to reach vulnerable populations through Mobile Registration Vans. She stated that the initiative ensures that people living in remote areas are not excluded from social protection services and has also proved effective during emergencies and floods by taking registration services directly to affected communities. She praised BISP’s innovative approaches and the positive impact of the Mobile Registration Vans on beneficiary inclusion and service delivery.
Additional Secretary BISP Dr. Asmat Nawaz, Director Generals of BISP, and representatives of the German Government, BMZ, GIZ, and KfW were also present on the occasion.
