KARACHI ( WNAM REPORT): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan attended the 8th Pakistan Edible Oil Conference (PEOC-26) as the Chief Guest at a local hotel here. Addressing the conference, the Federal Minister appreciated the organizers and all participants for successfully convening a forum that brings together key stakeholders of the edible oil and seed sector.
He commended the Pakistan Edible Oil Refiners Association and Seed Association for their efforts in promoting dialogue and cooperation in this vital industry.
He highlighted the visit of the President of Indonesia to Pakistan, terming it a very positive and productive engagement with Pakistani stakeholders. He expressed optimism that Pakistan’s long-standing relations with Indonesia would further strengthen through enhanced bilateral trade, particularly in palm oil and other commodities.
He also noted Indonesia’s keen interest in expanding trade cooperation with Pakistan in rare earth minerals.
Jam Kamal Khan stated that Pakistan has enjoyed long-term and friendly relations with Indonesia, which have been further reinforced through trade agreements.
The Federal Minister emphasized that several countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, and Canada are showing strong interest in trade with Pakistan, noting that these engagements are evolving beyond traditional trade into strategic partnerships.
He remarked that edible oil and oilseed provide an excellent foundation to further expand economic cooperation, build resilient supply chains, increase investment, and reduce delivery time lines.
Highlighting Pakistan’s investment potential, he stated that the country offers unparalleled advantages to regional and global markets, including a young and dynamic labor force, competitive labor costs, and rapidly growing technological capabilities, all of which create a fertile ground for investment.
He further informed that Pakistan is undergoing a series of economic reforms, focusing on stabilizing the macroeconomic environment, improving the ease of doing business, and promoting export-led growth.
The government, he reiterated, is fully committed to strengthening mutually beneficial trade partnerships.
Concluding his address, the Federal Minister congratulated the organizers and stakeholders once again and expressed confidence that the conference would generate practical insights and further strengthen partnerships between Pakistan and other countries.
