WNAM Monitoring: The Great Women of the World exhibition featuring the works of Kazakh artists opened at the Has Sanat Art Gallery in Astana. It showcases the ancient warrioresses, musicians, and present-day girls.
The Great Women of the World exhibition started in Istanbul last December. It is organized by the General Consulate of Istanbul in Kazakhstan and Sultan magazine editorial.
Kazakh artists such as Zhanuzak Musapir, Adilgali Bayandin, Aitkul Tasmagambetova, Manas Kozhakulov, Kairat Zhaiyrbekuly, Nurbek Zhardemov and Bakytbek Zerde are displaying their paintings.
Aitkul Tasmagambetova depicted Akkadyn, an Altai princess, unearthed during excavations in the Ukok gorge in Altai. She died relatively young from breast cancer so the artist tried to depict even the sickliness of her hands.
The exposition also reflects the culture of Kazakhs. Adilgali Bayandin depicts the way a mother-in-low meets a daughter-in-low: carefully, barely touching her hand.
Kairat Zhaiyrbekuly highlights women’s heroism in his People’s Hero Khiuaz Dospanova painting. Khiuaz Dospanova is a famous person who has never been afraid of death. She shot down enemy planes during the WWII. “The future generations should know about our heroes,” the author said.
