ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): In a major step toward national economic transformation, the Government of Pakistan and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate under the “Uraan Pakistan” program.

The agreement aims to align the private sector with the government’s ambitious vision of transforming Pakistan into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

The MoU was signed by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and President FPCCI Atif Ikram Sheikh at a ceremony held at the FPCCI President Secretariat.

The event was attended by business leaders, including: FPCCI Vice President Tariq Jadoon, Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail Hussain, and Former President Zubair Malik, President Islamabad Chamber Sardar Tahir and President Rawalpindi Small Chamber Sardar Saqib Naseem, Mian Akram Farid, Dost Ali Jan, Asif Javed, Shafaq Swati, and Badar Haroon.

Under the agreement, both parties committed to promoting export-led growth as the primary engine for economic revival. The “Uraan Pakistan” program focuses on a public-private partnership model to implement the “5Es” framework: Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment, Energy, and Equity.

“The success of Uraan Pakistan is inevitable for our survival. To revive the industry, we must ensure a conducive environment, address high interest rates, and provide competitive electricity tariffs,” stated Atif Ikram Sheikh during a joint press conference.

He further emphasized that as the representative body of the business community, the Federation must be taken into full confidence during the policymaking process.
Government’s Roadmap for Stability

Addressing the media, Minister Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that the cooperation of the business community was instrumental in steering the country away from the threat of default.

Sustainable Development: The Minister described “Uraan Pakistan” as a roadmap for sustainable development and industrial revival.

National Leadership: He noted that the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the support of the military leadership (Field Marshal Asim Munir) are being recognized globally for bringing economic stability.

Next Steps: Iqbal stressed that while stability has been achieved, the focus must now shift entirely toward aggressive economic development.

President FPCCI l Atif Ikram Sheikh proposed several measures to ensure the program’s success:

District-Level Development: Implementing economic measures at the local level to boost small-scale industries.

Targeted Exports: Ensuring specific strategies for high-potential goods to reach global markets.

Policy Inclusion: Ensuring the private sector remains a primary stakeholder in all future economic reforms.

The ceremony concluded with a mutual pledge to work as “Team Pakistan” to achieve the goals of the 13th Five-Year Plan and the 2047 Centennial vision.
