Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING): Prabowo Subianto warned that Indonesia must prepare for economic and political challenges stemming from global conflicts, including escalating tensions in the Middle East, stressing national resilience and unity to confront potential disruptions.
According to the president, shifting global geopolitical dynamics could affect multiple sectors of the Indonesian economy and society. He said the government and all elements of the nation must remain vigilant and ready.
“We face difficulties with the determination to overcome them. We do not hide from difficulties, nor do we pretend they do not exist,” Prabowo said, according to a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday.
He stressed that the Indonesian government would not ignore the risks emerging from the evolving global situation, adding that proactive policies and preparedness are necessary to mitigate the impact of external shocks.
The president said conflicts in several regions, particularly in the Middle East, could trigger wider economic pressures and heighten global uncertainty that may eventually spill over into Indonesia’s domestic economy.
Rising geopolitical tensions, he added, can disrupt trade flows, investment sentiment and energy markets, potentially influencing inflation and growth prospects for many countries, including Indonesia.
Despite the risks, Prabowo said Indonesia possesses significant strength to confront the challenges, pointing to national unity and social cohesion as critical assets during periods of global instability.
Such unity, he said, has historically helped the country weather crises and maintain stability even when global conditions deteriorate and uncertainty grows in international markets.
Prabowo expressed confidence that Indonesia can navigate future challenges and potentially emerge stronger if government institutions and society maintain solidarity and collective resolve.
He stressed that cooperation among government agencies, the private sector and communities will be crucial to safeguard economic resilience and sustain development momentum amid global uncertainty.
“United we are strong; together, we will face all difficulties and emerge from every crisis,” the president said, reaffirming confidence in the country’s ability to adapt.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono highlighted Prabowo’s readiness to help mediate tensions between Iran and the United States over the Middle East conflict.
Sugiono said Indonesia’s potential role as mediator would depend on the willingness of the parties involved, while reaffirming Jakarta’s commitment to promoting dialogue and helping reduce tensions in the region.
