WNAM REPORT: A seminar titled “From Strategy to Statecraft: Pakistan’s Post May 2025 Rise in Regional and Global Geopolitics” was held at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), focusing on Pakistan’s shifting role in regional and global affairs.
The seminar was presided over by Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi, Dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, AIOU. Guest speakers included Dr. Khurram Iqbal, Associate Professor at the National Institute of Intelligence and Security Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, and Dr. Marium Kamal, Assistant Professor at the Centre for South Asian Studies, University of the Punjab. Registrar AIOU Raja Umer Yunis, faculty members, principal officers, and a large number of students attended the seminar.
Presiding over the seminar, Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi said Pakistan had achieved success on both military and diplomatic fronts, and the country’s name was now being taken with respect and dignity worldwide. Citing the Holy Quran’s command to remain prepared and build strength to deter enemies, he said Pakistan’s forces had exposed India’s weaknesses and diminished its projected image of power.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Khurram Iqbal said the strategic balance of power had tilted in Pakistan’s favor after May 2025. He noted that Pakistan’s befitting response had exposed the gap between the enemy’s expectations and reality. He highlighted that the Pakistan Air Force had downed eight aircraft, demonstrating proficiency in modern warfare. Referring to the recent Islamabad Talks, he said they were a clear example of Pakistan’s current regional standing. He added that Pakistan’s geopolitical importance had drawn global attention, with Turkey and Qatar moving toward signing defense and strategic pacts similar to Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Marium Kamal said Pakistani forces demonstrated commitment and professionalism in every aspect during Operation Bunyan un Marsoos. She stated that the operation not only led to the rise of the Pakistani Forces and advancements in technological warfare but also exposed India’s vulnerabilities, including its pattern of using Pakistan for electoral gains and staging false flag operations. She emphasized that Pakistan had emerged as a peace negotiator and commended the government and armed forces for their role as international peace mediators.
