ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): President of Anjuman Tajran G-13 and G-14 Markaz, Riaz Khan, has welcomed the government’s Asan Tax Scheme, stating that it will play a significant role in increasing government revenue while also broadening the tax base. He said that expanding the tax base is more important for revenue collection than merely increasing tax rates.
He noted that a simplified tax return form written in easy-to-understand language had been a long-standing demand of the business community, and traders are grateful to the government for fulfilling this demand.
Riaz Khan further stated that if traders are relieved from the harassment and blackmailing practices of institutions, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), they can guarantee the collection of billions of rupees in taxes. He added that corrupt bureaucracy has long been a major obstacle to tax collection, often intimidating traders through various tactics and creating an atmosphere of fear that discourages them from entering the tax net.
He emphasized that introducing simple and business-friendly policies would not only enhance revenue collection but also contribute significantly to expanding the country’s tax base.
