WNAM MONITORING: The Israeli army closed the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday under the pretext of conducting military exercises, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Citing local sources, the agency reported that Israeli forces closed all access to the mosque while military exercises were being carried out.
Israeli authorities did not immediately comment on the closure.
This measure comes amid escalating Israeli restrictions at the holy site.
Palestinians claim that Israel is intensifying its efforts to Judaize occupied East Jerusalem, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and erase its Arab and Islamic identity.
