KUALA LUMPUR ( WNAM MONITORING): Their Majesties Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah, King and Queen of Malaysia, have advised Malaysians to protect their health and wear face masks amid the haze affecting the country.
“Therefore, the people, especially the elderly, children, those with respiratory problems and outdoor workers, are advised to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the harmful effects of air pollution,” the post said.
The King and Queen also advised the public to limit outdoor activities, especially when the Air Pollutant Index (API) is at an unhealthy level.
Malaysians are also advised to drink enough water, stay alert to official announcements, and monitor daily API readings to safeguard their health and their families’ safety, and to take necessary precautions while dealing with the haze.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 41 areas recorded unhealthy API readings as of 8pm yesterday, with 25 recording moderate readings and only one station reporting a good reading.
