ICCI Takes Lead to Turn Pakistan–Türkiye $5 Billion Trade Vision into Reality: Sardar Tahir Mehmood

WNAM MONITORING: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), under the leadership of its President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has intensified its economic diplomacy efforts to position Pakistan as a preferred destination for trade, investment and industrial collaboration while translating the shared vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan into tangible economic outcomes.
Talking to visiting trade and industry leaders at the Chamber House on Saturday, Sardar Tahir Mehmood said ICCI is fully committed to supporting the leadership of both countries in achieving the ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade from around US$1.4 billion to US$5 billion. He said that while many are still discussing ways to achieve this goal, the ICCI has moved beyond deliberations by taking practical initiatives through business-to-business meetings, joint ventures, business matchmaking and direct engagement between the private sectors of Pakistan and Türkiye.
He said promoting Pakistan’s economic interests through proactive international outreach has become one of ICCI’s foremost priorities. The Chamber will continue to project Pakistan’s positive image, attract foreign investment, boost exports and establish long-term commercial partnerships with friendly countries.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that, in line with this vision, the ICCI is leading a high-powered business delegation to Istanbul to organize the Pakistan–Türkiye Business Opportunities Conference and Excellence Award Ceremony on August 13, 2026. The conference will bring together leading entrepreneurs, industrialists and investors from both countries to explore joint ventures, strengthen business-to-business linkages and identify new opportunities for bilateral trade, investment and technology transfer.
He said the conference will feature structured B2B meetings, sector-specific interactions and business matchmaking between Pakistani and Turkish companies to facilitate concrete commercial agreements and long-term strategic partnerships. The initiative is being organized with the active support of the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Islamabad, and other relevant government and trade institutions of both countries.
The visiting business leaders appreciated ICCI’s proactive efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s economic diplomacy and expressed optimism that the Pakistan–Türkiye Business Opportunities Conference would usher in a new era of bilateral trade, investment and industrial collaboration, bringing the business communities of the two brotherly nations closer than ever before.
