ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT )- Turkmenistan plans to complete construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline by the end of this year, Ambassador Atajan Movlamov announced.The Ambassador made the remarks at the “Ambassadors’ Dinner 2026,” organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Islamabad.
Speaking on Turkmenistan’s regional policy, Movlamov said Ashgabat attaches particular importance to strengthening regional connectivity, including transport and communications links. He outlined efforts to establish the “Arkadagyň ak ýoly” unified transit and energy corridor and briefed on the implementation of the TAPI and TAP projects.Completing the Serhetabat-Herat section will create the necessary conditions to begin supplying natural gas to Afghanistan in 2027, he said, adding that TAPI and other regional projects are expected to ensure a reliable supply of cleaner energy and support sustainable economic growth across the region.
LCCI representatives also briefed members of the diplomatic corps on the chamber’s activities and opportunities to expand Pakistan’s trade and economic ties with countries in the region and beyond.Ambassador Movlamov highlighted the role of businesses in Punjab and Lahore in boosting exports, attracting investment, creating jobs and contributing to national economic growth.The dinner provided a platform to discuss new business ties, potential joint projects and ways to expand mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
