One expects that the persons who sit in our parliament like NA,PAs and Senate should be highly educated, sober minded and men of impeccable financial integrity and who had a fair command over the pressing issues confronting the nation and international affairs, to boot. This, however, is not the case most of the time Lesser persons find their way into our assemblies by dint of their fat purse. A politician was not far wrong when he said the other day sardonically that in this country even assemblies are purchasable commodity that can be bought with money.
By looking at the complexion of our assemblies and listening to the speeches of their members it is not difficult to discern the level of intelligence and genius of the persons who call themselves as people’s representatives. Not only do they indulge in use of unparliamentary language they are prone to use fisticuffs against one another. Granted that our assemblies had seen some capable persons too but they were always few and far between.
