By not appointing Anwar Saifullah Khan as governor KPK the powers that be have committed a blunder of the first order. Amongst the present lot of politicians available in the country, particularly in the border province of KPK, no other person can hold a candle to him, insofar as his indepth knowledge of customs and psyche of FATA which is an important part of KPK are concerned.
FATA is no ordinary place to govern. It borders with turbulent Afghanistan as well as equally sensitive Balochistan. Small wonder the past rulers used to post their most competent and accomplished persons to govern it in various capacities.
Those political observers who know Anwar Saifullah Khan inside out recall great administrative skill and political acumen exhibited by him during his career as bureaucrat as well as federal minister, senator and they always thought that he will be the fittest person for this gubernatorial office. Had he been posted as governor KPK one would have seen appreciable change for the betterin the law and order of KPK as well as FATA? He would would have carried out monumental developmental activity badly needed in the tribal area also. His personal contacts with the tribal chieftains would have come in handy in solving many pressing law and order problems of FATA a Since he has very good working relationship with almost all political parties of KPK he was ideally suited for this job too.
