Badung, Bali: Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono has said that eight heads of state will join the 10th World Water Forum that will be held in Bali from May 18 to 25, 2024.
During a coordination meeting ahead of the forum here on Thursday, he informed that they include the heads of state of Indonesia, Timor Leste, Fiji, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Hungary, and Morocco.
“In addition, there are deputy prime ministers, namely from Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Slovakia, and three special envoys of the presidents of the Netherlands, France, and the United Arab Emirates,” he added.
He said that 105 ministers from 132 countries and organizations are also scheduled to attend the forum.
“As for the participants, as of this afternoon, 13 thousand people have registered. However, those are the ones who officially registered, not those who didn’t register, such as their wives, families, subordinates,” he added.
The minister informed that a number of activities have been planned during the World Water Forum, including the Balinese Water Purification Ceremony, which is scheduled to take place in the Kura-Kura Bali area on May 18.
On Monday (May 20), the opening ceremony for the forum will be held at Bali International Convention Center in the Nusa Dua area, which will be followed by a high-level meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo.
After the opening, the World Water Forum series will continue with the Bali Art Carnival and Gala Dinner at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park.
According to him, all preparations for the forum are complete.
Indonesia was chosen to host the 10th World Water Forum, themed “Water for Shared Prosperity,” during the General Assembly of the World Water Council in Senegal in 2022.
