ISLAMABAD (WNAM REPORT ) Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry have decided to pool efforts to evolve a strategy for the solution of business community’s problems and for having a congenial atmosphere for ease of doing business.
This decision has been taken in a meeting between President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari and President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saqib Rafiq at Chamber House Islamabad. It is noteworthy that the later paid a visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Senior Vice President Muhammad Hamza Sarosh, Vice President Faisal Shahzad and Member Executive Committee Ikram Ur Rehman.
On the occasion, the sides decided to form a joint working group and to organize joint events to promote industrial and commercial activities for the economic betterment of the country. It was also decided that representatives of two chambers would meet twice a month for the purpose, joint teams of both the Chambers will hold meetings with the relevant federal government institutions like FBR, CDA, RDA as well as the administration of twin cities with regard to the development of Industrial zones, construction of expo centre etc.
On the occasion Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry apprised the visiting guests about the working of the ICCI especially about its engagements for the welfare of Business community, promotion of Industry-academia linkages and most importantly about the role it is playing as a bridge between the government and business community for the advancement of exports and fascinating foreign investments for the economic prosperity of the country. He also made the mention that he from his own pocket has started installation of water filtration plants in different commercial areas of Islamabad for provision of clean drinking water to traders as well as the residents of the areas, computers, first aid boxes, lab equipment etc. to different schools and colleges for the promotion of education. He assured every possible cooperation with RCCI for the joint cause.
President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commrce and Industry Saqib Rafiq said that for the promotion of business and industrial activities, a business facilitation center (BFC) should be established in Islamabad like Rawalpindi. He said that establishment of expo centers and industrial zones are inevitable in both the cities to boost SMEs and reduce traffic pressure from the cities.
Former President ICCI and Secretary General United Business Group Zafar Bakhtawari by terming the collaboration between two Chambers as a good omen for the business community of twin cities expressed the hope that it will prove highly beneficial for enhancing connectivity with business community of friendly countries.
Khalid Chaudhry, Sheikh Jamshed Akhtar, Ms. Naima Ansari were also present on this occasion.
