WNAM REPORT: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of BYD Wang Chuanfu.
The joint venture’s successful activities in producing hybrid and electric cars in Jizzakh were noted with deep satisfaction. The first electric car rolled off the plant’s assembly line.
As part of the project’s first stage, $160 million was invested, and 1.2 thousand jobs were created. The company has organized high-tech production, including welding, painting, and assembly.
At the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized the need to expand the model range and increase production capacity to 500,000 per year in the near future.
Particular attention was paid to projects for localizing components and spare parts to reduce production costs and to organize the export of cars to the markets of Central Asia and the CIS.
The company’s plans to participate in the project to develop green transport in Uzbekistan were also supported. This project involves creating a joint innovative research center for personnel training, developing technical regulations and standards for electric transport, and producing the latest generation Blade batteries and BYD electric buses.
