WNAM MONITORING: The Government closely monitors the ongoing efforts to assist flood-affected residents and facilitate the restoration of housing in flood-affected regions of Kazakhstan.
A total of 34,068 flood-affected families have received a lump sum payment of 100 MCI, amounting to over 12.5 billion tenge. They have also received additional support for the purchase of essentials, amounting to 150 MCI. Currently, 21,800 families have received compensation amounting to 9.9 billion tenge.
An inspection and an assessment of residential houses and country houses in all regions has been completed. A total of 4,790 houses and apartments have been built and purchased for flood-affected people.
323 new houses have been commissioned. In the North Kazakhstan region, new homes were handed over to 235 families, as well as 57 families in the Kostanay region, 26 in the Aktobe region, and 5 in the Pavlodar region. In total, 2,568 houses are scheduled to be completed and handed over to flood-affected residents by fall.
A total of 4,467 houses and apartments have been purchased on the secondary market and allocated to families for the purpose of replacing destroyed housing. A total of 315 houses were provided to residents of the Kostanay region, 219 – to those in the Akmola region, 1,372 – to those in the Atyrau region, 447 – to those in the Aktobe region, 1,102 – to those in the North Kazakhstan region, 1,004 – to those in the West Kazakhstan region, six – to those in the Karaganda region, and two to those in the Pavlodar region.
As a result of the decisions made by the commissions, 8,717 families received compensation for the housing repair and restoration, amounting to a total of 48.2 billion tenge.
Additionally, efforts are made to provide compensation to flood-affected businesses. A total of 374 affected small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were indemnified for damages, with the total amount of 5.8 billion tenge. The villagers have already received full compensation for dead cattle, with a total of 2.8 billion tenge.
