WNAM REPORT: Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on a working visit to Kazakhstan, is participating in the second meeting of Central Asian heads of state with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, held in Astana.
Successfully implementing the peacemaking foreign policy strategy initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, and honorably continued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, neutral Turkmenistan consistently demonstrates its commitment to constructive international dialogue. This approach helps address key global development challenges and fosters cooperative, trust-based relationships for the common good.
Turkmenistan’s participation in this high-level multilateral meeting, “Central Asia – Germany,” which covers a broad range of current global issues, further reinforces this commitment.
It is well-known that the first summit of Central Asian heads of state and Germany in the “5+1” format, held in Berlin in September 2023, laid the foundation for close cooperation in this format. At that summit, the five Central Asian countries expressed their readiness to establish a strategic partnership with Germany in the interest of peace and sustainable development.
At that historic meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who played a key role in the development of highly productive Turkmen-German cooperation, emphasized that Turkmenistan welcomes the initiative to create this new multilateral format and is prepared to expand collaboration in all mutually beneficial areas.
Germany is one of Turkmenistan’s primary economic partners in Europe, as evidenced by the well-established productive contacts with leading German companies, the regular business meetings and forums, and the effective work of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group.
Before the start of the high-level meeting, the President of Turkmenistan held several bilateral meetings, including with the Chancellor of Germany and executives from major German companies.
Following the traditional group photo ceremony against the backdrop of the national flags of the participating countries in the “Central Asia + Germany” meeting, the heads of delegations were invited to the conference hall.
The summit, chaired by the President of Kazakhstan, also included the participation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
