WNAM REPORT: First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev held a final meeting with World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde in Washington, as part of the annual meeting of the governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, as per reports.
The Cabinet of Ministers informed that during the meeting the parties discussed issues related to the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, which is a strategic project for the energy security and economic development of Kyrgyzstan and the entire Central Asian region.
Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized the fruitfulness of this trip and noted that the meetings with the World Bank leadership once again confirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting this strategic project – the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 not only for the Kyrgyz Republic, but also for the entire Central Asian region. “The World Bank is our key partner, and we are confident that through joint efforts we will be able to implement this project, which is of great importance for the region,” said Adylbek Kasymaliev.
The parties also discussed the current economic situation in Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of public administration, developing the private sector and improving the well-being of the country’s citizens.
Anna Bjerde praised the progress achieved by Kyrgyzstan in implementing reforms and emphasized the World Bank’s commitment to sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan.
“We will continue to support Kyrgyzstan in its efforts to build a more prosperous and inclusive society. The Kambarata-1 HPP project is a shining example of joint efforts to achieve sustainable development and strengthen regional cooperation,” said Anna Bjerde.
