‘Iran-Pakistan Ties Stands as High as the Majestic Peaks of Damavand and K2’

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, has described Iran–Pakistan relations as an enduring bond forged through centuries of shared history, civilization, faith and cultural affinity, saying the brotherly ties between the two neighboring countries have entered a new era of unprecedented strategic trust, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
In a POST shared on his official X account, the Ambassador said the historic relationship between Tehran and Islamabad has proudly withstood the test of time. He recalled that Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan after its independence, while Pakistan became the first country to recognize the Islamic Republic of Iran, milestones that reflect the extraordinary nature of bilateral relations and have laid the foundation for an exceptional partnership built on mutual respect, unwavering support and sincere brotherhood.
Dr. Moghadam said the remarkable strengthening of bilateral relations during the past two years has been evident across every sphere of engagement. Political dialogue, parliamentary cooperation, defence collaboration, economic interaction and people-to-people exchanges have all witnessed unprecedented momentum, ushering the relationship into a unique and historic phase.
Highlighting the close understanding between the two nations, the Ambassador noted that the Parliament of Pakistan unanimously adopted a resolution in support of Iran on the very first day of the Israeli regime’s aggression. He said the gesture deeply resonated with the Iranian nation. In response, members of the Iranian Parliament chanted “Pakistan Tashakur” in the presence of the President, while people across Iran proudly waved the national flags of Iran and Pakistan together as a powerful symbol of gratitude, friendship and solidarity.
The Ambassador further stated that Pakistan occupies a special place in Iran’s foreign policy. He pointed out that the Supreme Leader of Iran, in his first Nowruz message, highlighted the importance of relations with Pakistan, reflecting the strategic significance both countries attach to their enduring partnership and shared regional vision.
Referring to the unprecedented exchange of high-level visits over the past two years, Dr. Moghadam said President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Pakistan twice, while the Prime Minister of Pakistan paid several visits to Iran. He also referred to the multiple visits by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir (NI(M), HJ), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, alongside regular interactions between parliamentary leaders, ministers and senior officials, describing these engagements as a clear manifestation of the deep-rooted friendship, mutual confidence and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Recalling President Pezeshkian’s visit to Islamabad in June 2026, the Ambassador said the Iranian President personally conveyed the gratitude of the Government and people of Iran to Pakistan for its steadfast support and solidarity. He also praised Pakistan’s participation at the highest level in the ceremony held to pay tribute to the Martyred Supreme Leader of Iran, noting that the country’s largest-ever high-level delegation to such an event reflected the exceptional level of mutual respect and enduring brotherhood shared by the two nations.
“The stature and reputation of Iran–Pakistan relations stand as high as the majestic peaks of Damavand and K2,” Dr. Moghadam remarked, expressing confidence that no external pressure, regional challenge or hostile agenda could weaken the bonds of friendship, trust and affection between the peoples of Iran and Pakistan.
Concluding his remarks, the Ambassador said the Iran–Pakistan partnership represents a model of sincere brotherhood, mutual respect and good-neighborly cooperation for the entire region. He expressed the hope that all Muslim and neighboring countries would work together in an atmosphere of peace, stability and security, free from external threats and destructive conflicts, to build a future of shared development, prosperity and lasting welfare for their peoples.
