Baku( WNAM MONITORING):The Indonesia Pavilion at the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, Azerbaijan, showcased traditional Indonesian dance and cuisine as part of diplomacy.
“The Indonesian Pavilion at COP29 has three main objectives. First, soft diplomacy, which strengthens Indonesia’s climate actions, strategies, and innovations on the world stage,” Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol, said here on Tuesday.
The second objective of the Indonesia Pavilion is to promote Indonesia’s climate change action program in a constructive, integrative, and detailed way.
Faisol said that the third objective is to make the pavilion a place to explore new ideas, establish new partnerships, and create opportunities to strengthen climate resilience in Indonesia and its surrounding areas.
The person in charge of the Indonesia Pavilion, Agus Junianto, said that the pavilion is a form of soft diplomacy. It is a platform for promoting Indonesia’s strategic actions and innovations to the world.
He explained that the pavilion will feature several activities, including a talk show to discuss certain issues and outline actions that have been implemented so far.
It will also feature collaborative sessions with partner countries and talk shows with eminent persons. It also has a room prepared for holding bilateral meetings and exhibitions.
According to Junianto, there is not much difference between the Indonesia Pavilion at COP29 Baku and the one set up during COP28 Dubai, but the number of discussion sessions in the previous edition was fewer.
However, he is optimistic that the soft diplomacy effort carried out by Indonesia will be effective since visitors are attracted by the traditional dance and cuisine.
