WNAM REPORT: Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakyev and Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobayev discussed the possibility of exporting Kyrgyz products through Turkmen ports on the Caspian Sea, the press service reported.
According to the press service, the officials held talks via video link on Wednesday, during which they discussed issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan in the areas of energy, transport, infrastructure, agriculture and trade.
“The parties noted the need for further development of trade relations, emphasizing the importance of increasing cargo flow through the Caspian Sea, which has great potential for creating effective logistics both at the regional and international levels,” the statement said.
It is noted that in this regard, the organization of multimodal cargo transportation along the route Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Russia or through the Azerbaijani port of Alat in the direction of European countries is being considered. As the leaders noted, the implementation of this route will contribute to strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, expanding opportunities for the transportation of goods both within the region and for their export to Europe.
“Also, in order to intensify the use of the capabilities of the international seaport “Turkmenbashi” by Kyrgyz carriers in transportation through the Caspian Sea, options for simplified tariffs for all types of transport and port services were considered,” the Cabinet of Ministers emphasized.
