WNAM MONITORING: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation of proposals for developing culture and art, particularly for further support for theaters and increasing their importance in society’s cultural life.
This issue was raised at a meeting of the Republican Council on Spirituality and Enlightenment held on December 22 last year. Responsible persons presented information on the developed measures.
Thus, in 2025-2030, it is planned to create a cycle of 32 performances on “National Hero” and “In the Name of Human Honor and Dignity”.
Proposals were presented to support creative cooperation in creating stage works, drama, and directing. In particular, it is proposed to establish the Mahmudkhoja Behbudi Award for playwrights and the Bakhodir Yuldashev Award for young directors, launch the creative project “Nigoh” and hold a composers’ competition in academic music.
It was noted that expanding practical classes in theaters and establishing orders for scientific research devoted to the theater is necessary to strengthen the relationship between culture, art, and education.
A school of mastery will be created for actors and theater directors, theater scholars, and art critics. Theater critics and playwrights clubs will be organized with support for their activities. Non-state theaters will also receive state orders annually.
Amateur theater groups will be created in general and higher education institutions, and competitions will be held between them. The program “Theater – School of Life” will be implemented, providing regular visits to theaters for young people.
Next year, a national rating of theater groups in Uzbekistan will be compiled. Theater buildings in the regions will be overhauled and modernized using modern technologies. The State Musical Theater named after Muqimi will be awarded the academic status.
In addition, special attention at the presentation was paid to stimulating the sphere’s figures. From 2025, workers’ salaries in culture, art, information, library, and museum affairs will be increased.
Employees’ material interests will be linked to their key performance indicator (KPI), considering criteria such as providing cultural services to the population, especially tours in remote regions, creating new works, and identifying talented youth.
Also, from 2025, the salaries of employees of the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan will be significantly increased. The orchestra’s team will annually create new musical works based on government orders. Schools for the mastery of talented conductors and orchestral performers will be organized. Orchestra tours in the regions of the country and abroad, as well as concerts for employees of large enterprises and organizations, will be organized.
At the same time, the President gave instructions to raise education in culture and art to a new level. The objectives are to develop a unified system for identifying, selecting, training, and educating talented youth, to ensure the consistency of curricula and programs in general, extracurricular, vocational, and higher education, as well as in cultural and art institutions.
