WNAM REPORT: Tashkent hosted an event on “Reducing risks in the sector of critical raw materials to promote a green transition and growth in Central Asia”.
Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology Ural Yusupov, UNODC Regional Representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan Oliver Stolpe, as well as representatives of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Turkmenistan, attended the event.
The event aims to discuss ways to effectively use important raw materials in Central Asia, protecting the environment in the region and accelerating the transition to a green economy.
The participants discussed issues of regional cooperation, elimination of environmental threats, and transition to renewable energy sources. The event explored initiatives in raw materials, opportunities in Central Asia, practical steps towards environmental sustainability and reducing social risks, as well as the experience of transition to a green economy.
In addition, issues of strengthening regional cooperation, compliance with environmental standards, and introducing green technologies were discussed, and the importance of attracting investments in developing environmentally friendly technologies was emphasized.
