WNAM REPORT: Oliver Stolpe, UNODC Regional Representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At a meeting with Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva, it was noted that Uzbekistan’s cooperation with UNODC, particularly in combating drug trafficking, organized transnational crime, human trafficking, and terrorism, has reached a new level. The role of parliament in ensuring the rule of human rights and gender equality, creating decent working conditions, combating corruption, and countering human trafficking was discussed in detail. It was highlighted that Uzbekistan has established a strong legal framework for taking decisive measures against corruption, which is widely recognized at the international level. The country has also achieved positive results in combating human trafficking and forced labor and addressing migrant-related issues abroad, leading to improved rankings in international indices in these areas. The meeting also included an exchange of views on strengthening cooperation in using modern information technologies for crime prevention and law enforcement.
